Dam repair to temporarily close Pico Rivera golf course

Pico Rivera’s 33-year-old, nine-hole golf course will be forced to close — at least partially for a year and then fully for another five years — as a result of planned repairs at the Whittier Narrows Dam. And, according to Pico Rivera, there’s a chance a portion of it may be gobbled up in the construction and never be returned to the city.

Nearly $400 Million Secured For Dam Repairs

This past July, U.S. Congressional Representatives, Grace Napolitano and Linda Sanchez announced that $384,900,000 has been secured through the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill to fund repairs on the Whittier Narrows Dam as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dam Safety and Seepage Program.
